Uplift: Mobility Cart

Remote control cart designed to help a client with post-polio syndrome transport items like her bedpan, laundry, and groceries within her living space. Includes a safety mechanism to manually elevate the driving wheels to make the cart free-rolling in the event of battery failure.

  • Designed the chassis and driving wheel elevation mechanism with a focus on modularity to enable future refinement according to the client’s physical limitations

  • Justified design decisions and funding requests to consulting engineers, administrative staff, and teammates using CAD models, bills of materials, and pro forma documentation

  • Established objective requirements for client satisfaction and safety by visiting regularly to understand use cases and challenges specific to her living space
